A business visa has five streams.

  • 188A VISA (BUSINESS AND INNOVATION STREAM): This visa lets you operate a new or existing business in Australia. And allows you to stay in Australia for 4+ years.
  • 188B Visa (Investor Stream): This visa gives 4 years of provisional visa in Australia, which requires applicants to invest at least AUD1.5 million in an Australian state or territory and maintain business or investment activity in Australia.
  • 188C VISA (SIGNIFICANT INVESTOR STREAM): Under this stream, minimum investment must be AUD5 million in Australian investments that meet certain requirements and maintain investment activity in Australia.
  • 188D VISA (PREMIUM INVESTOR STREAM): Applicant must hold a Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) Innovation stream and have held it for at least three years, unless COVID-19 concessions apply, and must be able to demonstrate your business activities are of a nature that will require a substantial presence in Australia to operate your business and manage its day-to-day affairs. Duration for this provisional is up to 6 years from the grant date of the Subclass 188 visa.
  • 188E VISA (ENTREPRENEUR STREAM): The 188E visa is a temporary visa, leading to obtaining a permanent residency in Australia once the applicant has managed an investment for 4 years. From 1 July 2021, the $200,000 funding threshold will be removed, but you will need to be endorsed by a state or territory.
